Chinese New Year 2012

New Year for the second time! Since I'm married, I have two homes/ancestor line to attend/pray during this Chinese New Year. I'm not Chinese but I guess the families are in a sense. It's the first year that I didn't stay at home getting cozy with my blood related family (I'm not trying to divide but specify for clarification in this context). It's very unusual but I guess it's a change every spouse met once married.

We were on Mini-moon trip to Geneva-Paris-Venice and Nak's Birthday fall on the day we stayed in Paris. I couldn't do much for him. No big party, no big gift, but there was a big kiss :P

After a long walk touring around Paris, we finally stopped by at Louis XXV along Champ Elysee Street for a small dinner and a little drink. We were warmly welcomed by the waiter who speaks English! We were pleased (were you, Nak? lolz)

Since I couldn't afford the time to get him a big cake and that we won't have time to eat all of it, I ordered Brownie with Chocolate with a candle. But it turned out there were fire on the brownie instead of a candle. It was pretty, anyway. We had a great time.

Papermint Mocha Frappe

I'm a fan of Coffee. Brown is my favorite coffee shop in town. It is often that I visit the shop after lunch during my break from the office. The main reason is Brown makes good coffee (or it's just my taste ;) )

Christmas is coming near. Brown offers a special drinks for the season, one of them is Papermint Mocha Frappe. My usual is Mocha Frappe and this papermint really add a good scent to the taste. I'm loving it. And I really need to tell, I like the Cream and Chocolate Chip topping. It's just soooo Good!!

Why don't you give it a try?

I've been to Cineplex in Singapore once in a while when I visited Singapore. It was good and I pretty much enjoyed most of the time there. But I've never been to Cineplex in Phnom Penh until today. It is on the 5th floor of Sorya Department Store. Because I can't wait any longer to see Twilight-Breaking Dawn, I went straight with my sister and friends after work. We could steal a minute or two to stop our stomach from growling, anyway.

Monday Evening

I had a rough evening. I received critics and you know I was not pleased. Suck even more when I wheeled the car out, a ball hit the left side right where I sat. How reckless the player was! Obviously, he saw me coming out. It's a gate way, come on! He could have stopped for one freaking moment to let me leave but he chose to continue. I again wasn't pleased and this time sizzled with a little madness.

So I was not in the mood to eat crappy food at home. Mum is not here, food ain't the same. How I wish mum could come home sooner. I rang Nak and he was at Park Cafe. Crap. I had to make my way back to where I could have spent just 10mns to arrive. But this is going to take me 30mns and it did.

I walked in and I saw his back turned to me. It reminded me of all those time we hang out at the Coffee shop while we were still dating. I was mostly late and he was always there waiting. A great moment flashed back and I forgot about those things I've just encountered.

This is a plus for his big smile :)

Here's something I noticed. A little abnormal but I wouldn't dare judging they are having a wrong wording. It's just I've heard more of សាច់...ឆាខ្ញី/ម្រេច but they had in the other way round. My thinking was it's a little more of a direct translation from English while there's Khmer wording available. Shame?

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

Here comes another new coffee shop in town: the coffee bean & tea leaf.

I'm still on my holiday while Nak is already back to work. Groan him lol... while Nak bang is still in her pajama, I have no one to come for a coffee with me. So here I am all alone sipping coffee to my heart contents. This is not sad. I'm loving the moment having to care nothing but what a delicious coffee

cappuccino single shot is a little too sweet for me. Here they serve in a little different way than the other. No large or small, it is either single or two shots of coffee. The cup is pretty huge already. This costs me 3.2$ ain't cheap Eh?

Croissant for 1$ while I could have 2 at Coffee Plus. I'm just saying :POverall, coffee is smooth and fresh. Very easy to drink. I love it but I wouldn't go for croissant here

Here comes another Twin I have heard and visited in Kandal Province, Cambodia. These little two are born in the family who lives in Prey Romeas Village, 30km away from Phnom Penh. They are the second children of the family. The elder (Girl) weight 2.9 kg while the younger (Boy) weight only 1.9 kg. The labor went through with the help of a nearby midwife.As usual, we brought them Sarong (សារ៉ុង), Kroma (ក្រម៉ា), Blanket (ភួយ), Rice (អង្ករ), and 100USD cash.

I had problem drinking water. I barely drink water during my working hour. I am not interested in walking in and out of my desk to get myself a cup of tea/glasses of water. It's just not in my to do list. I sometimes forget to drink water after meal. I often don't drink water at all for a whole day. I've been craving for harcav weeks ago. Been planning on going for breakfast but always fail to wake up in time. Just this morning, Nak woke me up to have breakfast at our dining room. To my surprise, harcav was there on the table and so does other types of dim sum. He woke up early, drove all the way to the restaurant and brought back what I've been wishing to eat. I couldn't ask for more out of my husband :)

It was late at night when we decided to go for dinner at Shiki. Luckily, the restaurant is open till 10.30PM. We had one hour to eat which is pretty long enough for just an eating. So we had 5 plates of beef, 1 bowl of rice (we're trying not to eat too much grain cos that makes us fat easily) and one plate of cucumber (Salad was out of stock or else we could have eaten more healthy stuff).

Afterward, we went for Tequila at Sky Bar, The place.

I had my first glasses since (about) 5 years ago. It's not very much use until recently. My eyes have gone worse. I couldn't recognize people from a 20 meters away. How awful! So when I brought mum to get new glasses, I had my eyes checked. It's only 25 (degree? whatever that measure is) difference. So I pull out my ancient glasses out to have it changed except the frame. I went for a movie and using it, I could see things very clearly. I'm liking it :) Not the fact that I need to wear it every time I drive though :(

They offer second hand piano which we didn't find it cheap as it should, second hand you know. Anyhow, we need a piano to practice since we already are taking piano lesson. Our music instructor was there to help picking the right one. He tried playing on those pianos and gave us comment. He pointed out one piano with a quite good quality to our affordable price. However, it is not a famous brand for piano manufacturer. He named Kawai and Yamaha as relatively good in quality and their names are known world wide. He tried playing on one Yamaha piano and mum loves it. She bargain the price the lowest possible and it comes with a chair, key and cover for only 3000US$. We have them send the piano to our house in the evening of that very same day. How excited mum is now hehe...

Yesterday, I and Nak went to dine at my parent's in law house. There was no special occasion but because father-in-law stated he's sort of forgetting my face, we took the chance to pay him and mother a visit. When we arrived, mum was cooking. Since I am no use in the kitchen, I just went up to help Nak cleaning his old room. You wouldn't wanna know what they are in the room, would you? Either, ain't gonna tell :P. Once we finished tidying the room, we came down for our dinner. Mum prepared Sngor Chrouk Moin and Fried Brooklyn with Pork on the table and handed us each a pot of Teok Kroeung. It was pretty yum! As soon as we finished our meal, Brother and sister in law with their kids arrived home. They were just return from the Phnom Penh International Airport. The cousins were off to their home in Switzerland. So we accompanied them eating. By the time they were done with their meal, it was time for us to come back home. We said goodbye and that was the evening!

គ្មានអ្វីដែលទៀតទាត់ជាជាងការស្លាប់។ អ្នកណាៗក៏នឹងត្រូវឆ្លងកាត់វគ្គនៃជីវិតមួយនេះដែរ។ ប៉ុន្តែគ្មាននរណាមួយអាចមករៀបរាប់ប្រាប់ថាការស្លាប់នោះវាយ៉ាងណានោះទេ។ មានតែអ្នកនៅរស់ទេ ដែលអាចបង្ហាញទុក្ខសោករបស់ខ្លួន ទៅលើការបាត់បង់មនុស្សជាទីស្រលាញ់របស់ខ្លួង។ យ៉ាងណាក៏ដោយ ក៏គ្មានដំណោះស្រាយណាមួយប្រសើរជាងការទទួលយកការពិត និងត្រូវបន្តតស៊ូរស់នៅដោយគ្មានមនុស្សជាទីស្រលាញ់ម្នាក់នេះ ដូចអ្នកដទៃឯទៀតនៅលើលោក។

កាលពីព្រឹកមិញនេះ ខ្ញុំបានទទួលដំណឹងមរណភាពពីរ។ ម្នាក់ជាបងប្អូន ដែលស្លាប់បណ្តាលមកពីគ្រោះថ្នាក់ចរាចរណ៏។ រីឯម្នាក់ទៀត ស្លាប់ដោយជំងឺ។ វាគឺជាការបាត់បង់មួយដែលគ្មាននរណាម្នាក់រំពឹងថានឹងមកដល់។ ខ្ញុំគ្មានអ្វីច្រើននឹងមករ៉ាយរ៉ាប់ ក្រៅពីការចូលរួមសោកស្តាយនៃការបាត់បង់ជីវិតរបស់គាត់ទាំងពីរ។

Nothing more regular than death itself. Everyone will go through this stage of life. None could come back to tell what it feels like to die. Only the living who could show their defeat to have lost the one person they love. Anyhow, nothing else to be done yet to accept the truth and move on with their lives just like the rest does.

This morning, I received two horrific news. One is the death of relatives who died out of Car accident and the other of my friend's father in law who die out of sickness. It's a loss nobody wishes to face. I couldn't tell how shocking I am. Beside, my condolence to the family and may the two rest in peace.

I, Nak and Mum wanna eat out yesterday evening. We couldn't really think of where to go. So we were just driving on and on. Since it's too hard to decide where to go, we just make a stop at City Mall to have burger as our dinner. Burger for dinner, not very appealing! Anyway, we had a good time. We talked about this and that after finishing our meal. Then we shopped at the next door Lucky supermarket. Coincidentally, we met Bang To and Bang Nin. What a surprise! But that's not all. Our sister was there too! She ran and hug mum while leaving me and Nak looking. Not so nice huh? Haha... Just a joke. They were going to watch Kongfu Penda 2 3D. Yay! It's on today! I wanted to join them but couldn't really say yes since it was kinda late. But Mum said she wanna watch it again (she watched once in 2D). So yay! Off to the cinema... We were 20mns late. Damn! Anyway, the movie was hilarious. I really enjoyed it. Good movie Good cinema Good Good Good... Phnom Penh is quite advance now ;)

Why I blog in Khmer
Few days ago, a client requested us to transform all document in Khmer from Limon to Unicode. He reasoned that everyone is using it now; Also, if working with Ministry, they need documents in Khmer Unicode. Thus, for the convenient and smooth work the client sent us such request. Not to waste the time I called the IT guy to instal Khmer Unicode into my personal computer. Currently, I am learning how to use by remembering the letter and vowel printed on keyboard. It seems not that difficult but it does take quite sometimes. To shorten the length, I decided to blog in Khmer by using Khmer Unicode. I hope it helps.

Mum was still in Singapore, Bang Phoung was out, Granny went to Uncle's house and so I and Nak went off to have our dinner at Mlop Dong ម្លប់ដូង (Coconut Tree Shade ?). It was pretty yum. The price was quite reasonable though they just increased from 8,000Riel/Plate to 10,000Riel/Plate. Veggie is free of charge and so as the sauce.

Donation to HIV infected in Beong Thom Village

Last month, we held an event to congrats the top 3 students in each class from Grade 1 to Grade 12. We honor them a certificate, study materials, food and cash. During that time, a villager came to request for donation to herself. However, we were unable to deliver her the goods without preparation. Also, we are willing to help more people with the same condition. Thus, this month, we request the Chief of the village to list all the people who are infected by the HIV and called them to join the small discussion before the donation.

I'm pretty much enjoying my life currently. The reason I mentioned a specific timing is because I am this moody type and I often moans about all my hatred to anything I might find unpleasant at any minute right after I said I'm happy. It's just women! Well, I just make this stupid little assumption so I wouldn't be the weirdest one. Yah! Not every women are this way.

Every morning, I often am awaken by "Morning honey!" follow by "A morning kiss" and when I could properly open my eyes, he said "I love you!" then ends with a smile.

I always thought it's so fake but I guess fake isn't so bad when I'm the one who's receiving it. Let's enjoy it while it lasts! Don't you agree?

I left the office late again. It's been another busy and tiring day. I rang my sister just to make sure she's home when I visit her. She was getting herself ready for a wedding. I was not in the mood to hear my niece scream and drag me here and there. I headed for a face massage. Right after, I headed home. I arrived and the house was quiet. I asked Bang Thy where mummy is and she said, mummy's gone to a wedding. I told her to prepare me dinner. I went up and came back down when Ah Khon came to tell me that dinner is ready. I walked slowly just to kill the time. I was hoping that maybe mummy would arrive early. Still no sound of opening door. Grandma called and asked for my fiance. I was kinda stuck, I don't know where he was, is, could/would be.

The question is: Should I or should I not question when I was not told?
